How can we make the world a better place?
It's easy, really, if we'd just think
about each other and never shrink
from putting other people first;
giving a drink to someone who thirsts!
It's easy, really, to change the world
make it better for boys and girls
Give more hugs, and share our love
Spend more time with God above!
We need to slow our lives down some,
walk a little, instead of run;
talk and smile and share with others
after all they're sisters and brothers!
I think the truth we all should see
is we're a great big family;
some are big and some are tall,
some are white and some are small!
I feel especially qualified to speak on this subject; I'm a jail
minister with the Good News Jail and Prison Ministry, and I've devoted 12 years
to serving others, often with amazing results...
I've learned that when I put the needs of others before my own needs,
something wonderful happens - I touch another person deeply enough that their
life is often changed for the better!
Nothing miraculous needs to happen: we don't even have to wait for
change, because it can happen right here, right now, beginning with you!
Will YOU change and make YOUR part of the world a better place?
This evening, instead of watching t.v., make a batch of cookies and rake to
your neighbor...or mow someone's lawn for them.
Babysit for free for someone who needs it.
Give of yourself in whatever you're comfortable.
Just sacrifice a little leisure time.
Your family is worth it!
