How can I serve Jesus?

The Best Prayer I Have Heard In A Long Time...
Heavenly Father, Help us remember
that the jerk who cut us off in traffic
last night is a single mother who
worked nine hours that day and
is rushing home to cook dinner,
help with homework,
do the laundry and spend a
few precious moments
with her children.
Help us to remember that the
pierced, tattooed, disinterested
young man who can't make
change correctly is a worried
19-year-old college student,
balancing his apprehension
over final exams with his
fear of not getting his
student loans for next semester.
Remind us, Lord,
that the scary looking bum,
begging for money in the same
spot every day (who really ought
to get a job!) is a slave to addictions
that we can only imagine in our
worst nightmares.
Help us to remember that the
old couple walking annoyingly
slow through the store aisles
and blocking our shopping
progress are savoring this
moment, knowing that,
based on the biopsy report
she got back last week, this
will be the last year that they
go shopping together.
Heavenly Father,
remind us each day that,
of all the gifts you give us,
the greatest gift is love.
It is not enough to share
that love with those
we hold dear.
Open our hearts not to
just those who are
close to us,
but to all humanity.
Let us be slow to judge
and quick to forgive,
show patience,
empathy and
love.
You can do most anything that you feel the Holy Spirit is leading you to do....anytime you minister love, joy, peace, longsuffering, meekness, or any of the other fruits of the Spirit mentioned in Galatians 5 you are serving Jesus!
You don't need business cards, or have to preach or teach a class to be a servant...many minister *secretly* from their prayer closets, while others minister by being a friend!
Still others fast, or pray for their pastor, sweep out the church, or vacuum the floors...some paint posters for the walls, or write encouraging poetry or stories...if you have a talent, USE IT FOR *JESUS*!

Do you ever wish you were more talented, or a better speaker, so that you could give more to your church family?
Do you ever feel left out, or maybe wish you could give more than you do?
Do you like to eat?
Drink?
Have fun with friends?
Are you a good cook, or do you excel at throwing parties?
Then you need to consider a “fellowship ministry”!
What is a fellowship ministry?
Why, it’s one of the most important ministries there is! Imagine the joy you’d feel at having a friend stop by your home, bringing donuts and a smile, coming by just to see YOU…doesn’t want to borrow anything, just wants to say:
“Hello. You sure are an important part of our church - we are SO BLESSED to have you as a member.”
How would you feel? Important? Cared for? Happy? All these things and more!
A couple friends of mine stopped by recently, Lane and Danny by name, and just visited…didn’t stay long, maybe 20 minutes, but when they left I felt like one of the luckiest men alive!
Start your “Fellowship Ministry” today …by visiting someone the LORD places on your heart!
***********************************************************
Examine your heart - Do you love Jesus?
If you answered "Yes," then obey His 1st commandment - "Love one another".
If we love one another, we will want to "do" for one another...
Jesus also said if we want to be GREAT in the Kingdom of Heaven, we must SERVE one another...
There are MANY options - these are just a few I've tried.
1.Visit Jails - they need both men and women to visit. Try the Good News Jail and Prison Ministry for a start.
2.Visit nursing homes - you usually only need to register and read the rules before you can start - reading to patients or even just sitting with them is such a blessing!
Girls, if you're good with makeup, give someone a makeover!
3.Teach Sunday school.
4.Clean the rest rooms at church.
5.Leave tracts and cards in conspicuous places at church, work, or anywhere else you can think of!
6.Visit your neighbors - take them cupcakes, or fresh baked bread, and just socialize. If they're Christians, you have friends to fellowship with. If they're not, introduce them to Jesus!
7.Pray for your Pastor and his family. If the Lord brings someone else to mind, pray for them too! Don't say "amen" until you are sure God has both heard and answered your prayers!
8.Be yourself! It is YOU Jesus saved, and it is YOU walking with Jesus - don't be someone you AIN'T - be who you IS!
7.Pray for your enemies until they become your friends.
Be friendly yourself!
Remember 1st John 4:7-8!
